More EBF5 Mods!2026-03-06Hey everyone, it's been some time! While I've been busy working on a new game, the community has been modding EBF5 and creating all sorts of new content. Puri is working on a mod called Director's Cut that adds dozens of enemies from other EBF games, makes tweaks to the mechanics, adds new dialogue, skills and equips. But they're also adding their own graphics and animations, so in addition to remixing existing EBF content, there's completely new content appearing too - including new bosses and small dungeons to find them in. I'm especially excited about this, because Flash art is pretty niche, and there's not many people left with the skills
Find Matt's Cats launches on March 16th2026-02-23Hey everyone! It's been in development for 3 years, but "Find Matt's Cats" finally launches on March 16th! A few people have tested the full version of the game, and it's going to take around 50 hours to 100% complete everything, while a more casual play-through may take around half of that. You may have noticed that the name of the game has changed. It turns out that "Hidden Cats" was recently trademarked, so I had 48 hours to quickly change the name everywhere right before Next Fest started. I guess the trend of "Hidden Cats" games is over now. Mods, Ports, and Hidden Cats.2023-02-28Hey guys, I recently created some new item icons for modders to use in Epic Battle Fantasy 5. If you want to learn more about mods and try some out, check out the EBF Discord. EBF5 can be modded using decompiling tools, and a patcher can be used to modify your EBF5 installation. Currently the largest mod being worked on is called Tough Love, and it has new status effects, equips, player skills, and more intelligent and powerful enemies. At some point I will make it a beta branch of the game on Steam, to make it easier to install. But until then, you can try it out yourself using the resources on the EBF Discord. New Game and Price Updates2022-11-11Hey guys, I've got two pieces of news for ya'll. First of all, I'm working on a new game - it's a hidden-object game codenamed "Hidden Cats". It's still early in development, but I'm having a lot of fun working on it. And I think you'll enjoy it if you're into relaxing games with cute art. It's loosely tied into the Epic Battle Fantasy universe too. The second news is that I’ve been thinking of increasing the prices of my games in line with inflation… Since Epic Battle Fantasy 4 and Bullet Heaven 2 came out on Steam in 2014 and 2015, the US Dollar and British Pound have dropped in value by around 25% due to inflation. Tough Love Mod Progress2021-08-16Hey guys. About a year ago I made an announcement about an EBF5 mod, and since then people have been asking me if it's finished yet. Well, the mod isn't finished, but it has grown in scope since then, so there's a lot more content than originally planned. The mod is being made by EBF fan Feit-Neo (also known as LightningLaser), with some new icons being made by me. EBF5 Mods and Ports2020-07-10Hey guys, Epic Battle Fantasy fan LightningLaser is working on a game mod that makes EBF5 more challenging. So far he's improved enemy AI and given them more varied attacks, added some new status effects, made some of the enemy skills usable by the players, and is adding weapons from previous EBF games to EBF5. Soundtrack changes and Bug Fixes2020-03-03Hey guys, I've created a new beta branch of EBF5 - this is mostly to fix some very small bugs and typos. The only substantial changes are that NoLegs can now use Art Attack, and bosses have some resistance to HP debuffs from Scorch. This version will soon be live for everyone. You can opt-in early by going to Steam client -> EBF5 properties -> betas tab -> v2.1, the main menu should say "version 2.1.2" if done correctly. In related news, I’ve made some changes to the Epic Battle Fantasy soundtracks. Soundtracks used to be DLC, but now they are their own type of content, with the main difference being that they no longer require the base game
Huge Version 2 update is live!2020-02-15EBF5 V2 is now live for everyone on Steam, and the base price of the game will go up whenever Valve approves it. So it’s your last chance to buy it for $15! The game should update automatically whenever you restart Steam, and once that's done it should say v2.1.1 on the main menu. EBF5 v2 launching soon!2020-02-06Hey guys, the big EBF5 version 2 update is going to go live for everyone on Steam on Saturday the 15th. I’m announcing this early because the price of EBF5 is going to go from $15 to $20, so consider this your last chance to buy it at the old price! The current opt-in version, which I just updated, is pretty much finished (v2.0.0, no BETA label on the main menu), but I might still make some minor balancing tweaks before the final launch. You are more than welcome to stream and make videos of the v2.0 content, but please do not spoil anything in the titles, thumbnails or video descriptions until the beta is over!
