| Tweaks & fixes | 2025-07-04 | Since last time around, we've shipped a few fixes/improvements:Steam icon added next to player's name matchmaking and in-gameAdded support for a bunch of new currenciesChanged misleading copy in weekly results screenFixed issue causing some users to matchmake in a non-selected game mode (e.g. Moving despite only selecting No Move)Apart from that, we're actively looking into how we can drastically improve the free offering - more updates to follow this fall. | Game updates regarding free-to-play | 2025-06-03 | Amateur Division Up until now, unlimited Amateur Division has only been available to Steam created accounts. We're now shipping an update so that all users, including linked accounts, can replay Amateur Divison as many times as they like! Note: for paying users (Steam Pass or web Yearly Unlimited/Elite/"Old Pro" subscribers), the Amateur Division is only accessible if you haven't already entered the main competition (which replaces the need for Free Amateur Division) We've fixed a bug that caused legacy "Old Pro" Yearly subscribers to not have full access to the game TL;DR: All users can now play Solo, and unranked Team Duels, in an unlimited |
| Unlimited Yearly gets full access! | 2025-05-08 | All users with an Unlimited Yearly subscription from the web version are now granted access to GeoGuessr Steam Edition! This includes all current as well as all future such subscribers. GeoGuessr Steam Edition is in Early Access. That is, we're still developing and learning as we go. The original intent of this edition was to reach a new audience, who may or may not have heard of GeoGuessr before but primarily has Steam as their platform of choice for gaming. As such, we didn't think too much about adapting this edition to the existing user base on browser version, but wanted to give a lower priced, condensed version of our most popular game |

| Update: Release coming in May! | 2025-04-29 | Roughly a month ago, we announced the news that GeoGuessr: Steam Edition was coming to, well, Steam! Along with the annoucement, we shared a bit of information as to what the edition was to include. Based on your feedback, we realized that we needed to ensure a convenient way to link existing GeoGuessr browser accounts to Steam. To accommodate, the release date had to be pushed slightly, which is why we're writing this to let you know that instead of April, the game will be released in May.
