| VEIN News: Save Systems | 2026-05-01 | Hi everyone! Welcome to our newly-bimonthly news post. Like we said last time, we're reducing the frequency of updates to bimonthly due to the time they take to write. We want to spend as much time as possible working on the game, but also want to balance community updates – a lot of what we do is opaque until updates come out (outside of these updates), and we've been trying to be as transparent as possible throughout VEIN's development process.Anyways, let's get into it!I've been working on sub-inventories. These are essentially bags that can store items. They're now fully functional (for the next update). You can put items in them, drop the |
| VEIN Weekly: A-Frames | 2026-04-16 | Hi everyone, and welcome to another VEIN Weekly. It's been a relatively slow week for us as we work on more backend fixes and behind-the-scenes improvements, so this is going to be a small one. We've been adding a bunch of new art assets in preparation for the new region of the Champlain Valley. This means we have to go through art, check that it's configured properly, and fix performance problems with it for every object that gets added to the game.I fixed some bugs with trees that caused planted trees to not harvest properly. I also added the ability for plants to be perennial (growing back every so often). We've done some more work on weathe |
| VEIN Weekly: Apple Seeds & Addictions | 2026-04-09 | Hi everyone, and welcome to another VEIN Weekly! We have a decent amount to present this week, and we hope you enjoy it. As usual the changes in this post are not in the base game yet and will be in the next major update. We've done a bunch of work on sleep. Multiplayer and singleplayer sleep systems are now unified. You can have multiple bed spawnpoints in singleplayer now, like in multiplayer. In multiplayer, you can now set a duration to sleep for. In addition, on locally hosted ("listen") servers, if everyone on the server is in bed, time can advance, similar to Minecraft. We also added an option for this behavior on dedicated servers, but |
| VEIN Weekly: Stressful Conditions | 2026-04-01 | Hi everyone! Welcome to another VEIN Weekly. This week, we put out Hotfix 4, fixing a variety of smaller issues. We've been working on a few new features as well. Let's get into it.In the hotfix and otherwise, we've fixed a variety of issues. We fixed a variety of fluid related problems for Hotfix 4. Using a container with a fluid source like a bathtub or sink will now prioritize using the stored contents of the fluid source over contents from the tap. We fixed an issue where fluid sources would not dispense to containers the tap fluid (so, if you wire a sink into a barrel full of ketchup, it would still fill the container with water). We also |

| VEIN Weekly: Knitbone | 2026-03-25 | Hi everyone, and welcome to another VEIN Weekly! There's a lot of behind the scenes work going on right now at the studio, but we're excited to show you a bit of what we're working on.Starting off, we released Hotfix 2 shortly after the last weekly update, followed by Hotfix 3 due to a pretty rough crash. Players were able to crash servers by driving a car, then using it as a missile to destroy a piece of moved furniture – so we wanted to get rid of that immediately. There was also a UI issue with all crafting/workbench items saying 'x3' for quantity, which is just a result of redoing pretty much all text UI in 0.023. There are still some out |

| VEIN Weekly: Triage | 2026-03-18 | Hi everyone! Welcome to another VEIN Weekly. As of this writing we're working hard on getting Hotfix 2 out. We're back from GDC and moving full-throttle with development. All changes below are for the upcoming Hotfix 2 and on the experimental Steam beta unless otherwise specified. We've added some better crash reporting that will help us triage and fix crashes (and general bugs) easier. It's automatic based on your telemetry settings. We still don't collect any personally identifying information whatsoever unless you opt into 'full' telemetry; even then that's just used to link crashes you've experienced together so we can get a better picture |
| VEIN Weekly: Stump Removal | 2026-03-11 | Hi everyone! Welcome to another VEIN Weekly. We're very busy with hotfixes thanks to the 0.023 update. We're also at GDC, so expect few updates this week and next week.0.023On Friday we launched 0.023. From what we can tell there weren't too many issues. On Saturday we launched hotfix 1.Dedicated servers that had third-party hosts had some problems with save directories as those hosts grant less control over the server to their customers, but we fixed this in Hotfix 1. Ditto for some GeForce Now users, but that will come in the next hotfix.Code locks weren't clearing, some UI wasn't refocusing, and some other minor issues were fixed with the |

| VEIN Weekly: 44,011 Points | 2026-02-25 | Hi everyone! Welcome to another VEIN Weekly. We're currently pushing forward for our 0.023 release, and have more or less stopped working on new features outside of last minute bugfixes. We're aiming to get the update out very soon. With that in mind, our weekly updates are going to be fairly small as we are mostly just working on bugfixes or performance at this point. As a reminder, all changes listed below will not be in a hotfix, but are on the experimental Steam beta branch and will be in the 0.023 update. We've removed the watermark from the top right corner; it's now only visible in experimental in the bottom left. This should improve i |
| VEIN Weekly: Inspections | 2026-02-18 | Hi everyone, and welcome to the new VEIN Weekly. This week we've mostly been working on fixes as 0.023 is right around the corner. As usual please don't consider this a change log, as these fixes and changes and updates are only on the experimental beta branch. I've done a bit more first-person animation work. I corrected old, placeholder animations from affecting head bobbing. A lot of you pointed out that the animation for reloading the .38 Special only has one bullet inserted instead of all six. We know! Everything in this column is in-development, and we're more of the opinion that we want to keep you all up to date with exactly what we'r |
| VEIN Weekly: Bone Hammer | 2026-02-11 | Hi everyone, and welcome to another VEIN Weekly. It's more of the same this week as we continue pushing towards 0.023, which should be coming out in the next few weeks. This update has taken far longer than we expected, and I think it's because we've been sort of in-between a lot of different work. Some players urgently want multiplayer to work perfectly; some players just want bug fixes and optimization; some want new content; some want better graphics; some want new features; and some want new hardware (such as Steam Deck or gamepad support). Obviously, we want all of these too, and we will get there, but we have to prioritize when we can. |
| VEIN Weekly: Quality Assurance | 2026-02-04 | Hi everyone, and welcome to another VEIN Weekly! We're doing more basic/preparatory/behind the scenes stuff in service of getting 0.023 out. It's taking way too long, so we want to focus entirely on stuff that will get it out of the gate sooner rather than later. At the same time, we've got a partially assembled team that is working on new content and bugfixes while we push towards getting the update out. Here's what we've been working on. We've finally started testing for Steam Deck. There are a lot of problems we weren't aware of with it, such as broken UI. It's also helped us with testing very-low-end platforms. While this isn't especially |
| VEIN Weekly: Hunting Special | 2026-01-28 | Hi everyone! Welcome to another VEIN Weekly. We've made a lot of progress this week as we've been focusing on getting 0.023 features done so we can get that update out already. As usual the contents of this update aren't yet released outside of the Experimental beta branch. We released Hotfix 18 on the 22nd, which seems to have caused no (new) issues. Hopefully that becomes the standard for hotfixes going forward. I've continued working on foliage optimizations and fixes. As I've said before, I want the new foliage to run just as well or better than our old foliage, so it's something I've been focused on. I've also been fixing some of our iss |

| VEIN Weekly: Bloodmeal | 2026-01-21 | Hi everyone, and welcome to another VEIN Weekly! This is another small update as we move towards expanding the team and working towards 0.023. Yan fixed weather particles not following your camera in third person. He has also fixed dozens of crashes that have plagued the game from day one, so many thanks to him. Stability improvements are an ongoing process and continue to be worked on. These fixes will be in the next hotfix, which should be soon. I've finished work on UI text scaling, which was a major block, but it's good to have it done. Localization fixes are completed, so the game should be available in a few more languages soon, and I c |
| VEIN Weekly: Water Bodies | 2026-01-14 | Hi everyone, and welcome to another VEIN Weekly. This one's short as we're doing a lot of manual work on broad features, as well as getting started on team expansion soon, but we still want to update you regardless. As usual, these changes are slated for a future update and aren't in the game yet. - We managed to release Hotfix 17 out this past weekend. Thankfully, there weren't any major bugs. We're still aware of several bugs still in-game that are taking a bit longer to fix, like placing items on vehicles or server desync issues, so we will work on those either for 0.023 or Hotfix 18. I spent some time in the second half of last week worki |
