| An April Fools Multiplayer Experiment | 2022-04-01 | NOTE: This event has ended. The multiplayer server is not currently online. So, a friend thought it would be funny if I announced A Short Hike Battle Royale for April Fools. I was like, "ha - what a funny concept" ...and then started tinkering with multiplayer code. And now today, you can try A Short Hike 99 - a downloadable multiplayer mod. This won't ever be an official mode for the game, but I wanted to share the results of this experiment with you all somehow. So it's a mod! With it installed, you'll be able to see up to 99 other players who are playing it at the same time. You can check it out using the Betas tab in the game's Steam prop |
| Steam Deck Support | 2022-03-31 | This is just a little patch that fixes some issues the game has when running on the Steam Deck. Patch Notes: - Fixed an issue where keyboard glyphs would show up on the start screen even when a controller was plugged in. - Mouse movement alone no longer causes the game to switch from gamepad to keyboard controls. - An in-game license text window is now used when a controller is plugged in. |

| A Short Hike is now playable in Brazilian Portuguese! | 2021-02-01 | This patch adds an official Brazilian Portuguese translation to the game! | The Boating Update is out NOW on PC and Nintendo Switch! | 2020-08-18 | The question has divided enthusiasts for decades: Is boating a form of hiking? Well, regardless of where you stand on the subject - you can now take a detour to cruise the waters yourself in A Short Hike! To celebrate the Switch release of the game, I'm releasing a small free content update to all current platforms! Just drop by the local rental shop and the boat can be yours for the whole afternoon! Since then, A Short Hike has won the Seumas McNally Grand Prize and the Audience Award at the 2020 Independent Games Festival! It still feels surreal to me, but I wanted to thank everyone who played and shared my game. I also want to give credit to Dawn Blair, Mark Sparling, Andrew Wong, and David Czarnowski, since the game wouldn't have been the same without their contributions and support.
